I went to the Mountain Film Festival in Tokyo!
I think it was my third or fourth time attending.
But last year, in 2024, I was actually in Banff, Canada — I’d been living there for about a year and three months on a Working Holiday visa. So yeah, I was really there.
The first time I ever heard about Banff was back in 2015, when I went to the festival in Osaka.
That moment planted a small seed in me, and years later, it finally bloomed — I got to experience the real Banff.
It means a lot to me when I think about it.
Anyway, I was super happy to be back again this year.
All the films were so inspiring — they really made me think about my life.
Life is short, and I should do what I truly want to do.
I want to figure out what really makes me happy.
By the way, I sent a message to the manager in Japan saying I’d love to volunteer for this festival.
Because I honestly think this event is amazing — it actually changed my life.
It took me some courage to send that message.
We were supposed to meet at the festival in Tokyo, but he just replied with a short “thank you.”
I feel like I took action, but nothing really came out of it.
He replied, but didn’t seem that interested, which made me a bit sad.
Still, it was the first time I actually took action toward something I really wanted to support, so I guess that’s a good thing.
Thank you so much for holding this event.
Hopefully I’ll be here again next year — or maybe in Banff, haha.
